Windstone Editions and M. Pena designs the world of dragon figurines like no other. A unique and unforgettable world of fantasy where dragons dwell, unicorns roam, wizards cast spells, and wolves and cats have wings. Windstone Editions reproduces M Pena's work in accurate, museum quality reproductions made from the finest materials available, each piece is precisely cast in the finest quality gypsum stone, and hand painted by skilled American craftspersons. At the heart of every piece created by master sculptor M. Pena is the artists passion for living creatures. This passion, coupled with a life long study of animal behavior and study of anatomy, and an astonishing gift for three-dimensional art, results in sculpture that is so intriguing and life like that it is without equal. Growing up in California, Pena surrounded herself with animals. Keeping over two dozen aquariums in her childhood bedroom, a pet toad in a waste basket and a chicken in a bucket, her collection of pets became the subjects of her artwork. In college, Pena studied biology and zoology in addition to painting, drawing, and scuplture. Today, the artist is never far from her animals. Her glass walled studio is surrounded by a veritable nature preserve: from parakeets to ponies to iguanas, tortoises and llamas. These creatures are the living well from which Pena draws inspiration --- The models of her incredibly accurate detail in her work. Individually boxed. |
